A Warm Review on a cold day

I received such a wonderful and warm review from Molly and Phen after their wedding gallery went online that I had to share. Molly and Phen put a lot of planning into their wedding and every accept of their day received much care.

We took a short walk down to the overlook where you can see the top of the waterfall

before heading down to the base

On Sunday I met with Diandra and Keith in Poughkeepsie, NY. We lucked out and there was still fall colors on the trees even after all the crazy snow

They had brought their puppy Maya (who I feel in love with) so we did lots of walking around to tire her out

and of course to get photos of the three of them together

The puppy was certainly full of energy!

We stopped at a spot overlooking the Hudson River

where there was still some fall color off in the distance

We continued on in search of color

and a big pile of leaves

for a leaf fight of course!

On Sunday I met with Kathryn and Kevin in Guilford CT at her Mom's house. Their home had a lovely pond in the back

with a big maple

that had a wooden swing attached to it

and a big red barn

a perfect spot for an engagement session.

We then headed down to the beach

with their dog for some portraits of the three of them together.

Fall Wedding in Middletown

Saturday, October 29 was the date of Joe and Eileen's Fall wedding. They had picked fall colors for their wedding

and the reception to be at Eagle's Nest overlooking the valley and all the fall colors. I met Eileen in the early afternoon at Eagle's Nest, unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans for the day. There was already snow covering the ground and it was snowing fast enough to have white out conditions.

Eileen got ready in her corner room with help from her sister

and we all bundled up and headed down into Middletown to Grace Church

for the ceremony. Not exactly a fall looking scene!
Eileen waited in the back for her guests to arrive

and it was soon time to start the ceremony

with the groom beaming as his soon to be wife came down the aisle

After readings from family

and a homily with words on the beauty of the snow

Joe and Eileen exchanged vows,

rings,

a blessing,

and a kiss

before happily heading down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs!

We took their family images inside the church

before braving the snow and cold

Another Watch me Grow Graduate!

This fall I photographed Adam for his final session in the Watch Me Grow Program. Adam's parents also had maternity portraits

and newborn portraits

added to their Watch Me grow program. I took images of Adam at 3 months, when he could hold his head up and look around.

at 6 months to capture all his baby rolls

and his sitting up by himself!

At 9 months we met at an outdoor location for some family portraits

and Adam could show he was starting to walk

For Adam's last session we met back at the studio

and presented Adam with his first birthday cake to enjoy to himself!

Caitlin & Gordon's Catlin Gardens Wedding in the Fall

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Caitlin and Gordon's wedding at the beautiful Catlin Gardens

Caitlin got ready in her suite upstairs at the Catlin Garden's Inn before heading down to the lobby to see Gordon for the first time. Gordon decided to sneak up behind her while she thought she was having a portrait taken

They were both happily surprised to see each other

We then headed outside to take some photos of just the two of them in Catlin Gardens

while we waited for their family to join us for family portraits before the ceremony

Caitlin was escorted by her father through the light post lit gardens

to Gordon who had to bite his lip when he saw her walking down the aisle

They happily and quickly exchanged vows

so the night of celebrating could begin

with the flower girl bringing everyone on the dance floor

to twirl

and dance the night away!

Molly and Phen's Fall Emerson Resort & Spa Wedding

On Saturday I headed up to Mt. Tremper to photograph Molly and Phen's Emerson Resort & Spa Wedding.
Molly and Phen decided to have all the formal photos done at the beginning of the day so they could enjoy their events without any interruptions.

I set up a spot for them to see each other for the first time outside the lodge at Emerson Resort & Spa. Before we knew it there were 30 people also there! Molly nervously approached Phen as he anxiously awaited to see her.

I snuck them away

down to the river for some time alone

We then regathered everyone for the formal portraits

and everyone was happy when they were done!

Everyone left to freshen up and begin the day's celebration.
Molly and Phen with their friends and family returned to the Catamount lodge for the signing of the Ketubah

With lots of witnesses,

heartfelt wishes

and a beautiful blessing

before the bedeken

and the start of the outdoor ceremony of vows where Phen and his parents happily started down the aisle

to be joined by Molly,

proudly presented by her parents

for a romantic wedding under the Chupah

As the time to break the glass drew near I knew a surprise was coming but it still didn't help me not to startle, as the glass was broken, a confetti canon shot out and a three piece brass band played. You can see the smoke and confetti starting on the left

It truly was a joyous moment and a great way to start their married life together

As the cocktail hour was ending the sky turned the most amazing color, matching the wedding colors Molly&Phen had picked out so I had to have them come outside for a photo

or two

Soon after it was time to head back to the tent

for Molly & Phen's first dance together.

Which was followed by the Horah,

toasts from their siblings

and parents

a dance with Molly and her father,

and Phen with his mom.

After dinner, Molly's brother's band kicked the party up a notch

with some guest appearances from Molly and

and her mom.

The band's last song of the night concluded with sparklers for all the quests to hold

After the late night meal there was a surprise for Molly and Phen. All the guests gathered in front of a projection screen

to watch a video put together by their families

commemorating their donation to, USA Africa with a rendition of We R The World

by family and friends

Their awesome day ended with the DJ turning the Catamount lodge into a twilight room

to dance the night away in

Stacey and Joe's Fall Catlin Gardens Inn Wedding

On Friday I met Stacey at the Catlin Garden's Inn where she was getting ready in her suite with the help of her mom, sisters

and soon to be sister-in-laws

Since it was raining we went downstairs to the main lobby to take some photos with Stacey and her family. Her dad was waiting down there to see her for the first time in her wedding dress

When Stacey was back in her suite, Joe came over with his family for his portraits. He looked like James Bond, in his classic black tux

I think his sisters thought so also!

Unfortunately it was still raining as the time for the ceremony approached so the service was moved inside the manor to the terrace room.

Stacey was escorted in by her parents

and Joe saw her for the first time that day.

They stole glances at each other throughout the service

the blessing,

the exchange of rings

and their first kiss

With the rain continuing the family group portraits were done on the terrace overlooking the gardens

We then walked the gardens with an umbrella so we could take some photos out
there rain or not!

After the cocktail hour it was time for their first dance together

and they had gone from stealing glances at each other to not being able to take their eyes off each other

This romantic dance was followed by Stacey dancing with her father

and Joe dancing with his mother

Before dinner there were some toasts by, Joe's father

Joe's sisters, who made everyone nervous with their reams of paper and a notepad

but they had brought a timer, set to three minutes

and that kept their embarrassing stories of Joe to a minimum

When Joe's sister finished it was time for Stacey's sisters to give their speech

Once dinner was over the night continued with lots of dancing

and concluded in a couples dance for everyone with Stacey and Joe in the middle

Isabelle and Keith's Fall Scotchtown Presbyterian Wedding

This Saturday I met Isabelle at Catlin Gardens as she was getting ready for her wedding at Scotchtown Presbyterian

her attendants all helped each other get ready

so they could help Isabelle get dressed and ready to go

Isabelle's granddaughter was also in her wedding as one of the flower girls

Soon it was time for the wedding to begin with the flower girls leading the way

and Isabelle was happily escorted by her brother-in-law

to a very happy Keith

where they exchanged vows

and rings

before heading out

for a champagne toast

and a drive to Catlin Gardens in a Rolls-Royce

At Catlin Gardens I took some images of Keith and Isabelle while we waited for their family to gather

for their first dance

toasts before dinner

and a night of fun and dancing after dinner

Kate and Ron's Rose Farm Inn Wedding on Block Island

This Saturday was absolutely beautiful despite all the rain and hurricanes that have been around.

I met Kate and Ron early in the day to take their family photos so there wouldn't be any interruptions on their wedding day. Their family was uber cooperative so we got the formal images done very quickly

leaving plenty of time for candids,

images of Kate and Ron together,

and for me to be able to take Kate and Ron to some other spots for photos.

We returned with plenty of time for everyone to relax before their ceremony began.

Even though Ron had just spent time with Kate he was still struck by her beauty as she came down the aisle

and they exchanged their vows overlooking victorian hotels and the ocean at their Block Island Wedding

The guests then headed to cocktail hour overlooking beautiful Rose Farm

and were soon joined by Kate and Ron

for introductions,

dancing,

a fun night,

and a candlelit walk back to the Inn when the night was over.

Baby's First Year - Watch Me Grow

Baby Emma just completed a Watch Me Grow Program to document her first year. For the last session I like to take images with their first birthday cake!

For Emma since it is August we set up outside so she could make as much of a mess as she wanted too!

Her sister joined in to help!

Once she was full of chocolate we took Emma in for her bath

when she was squeaky clean we headed back outside for some portraits of all the girls together

Port Jervis, NY Family Portrait Session

This summer a local Port Jervis, NY couple asked me to photograph them and their family before they relocated south.

I met with everyone at their recently sold house and we started with some images in the backyard in front of a holly bush they had planted many years before.

When they move south they will be closer to their daughter's family who had come up north with their granddaughter to be included in the portrait session.

She is such a cutie-patootie I can see why they are excited and happy to be moving closer to her

We then headed down to a park in Port Jervis along the Delaware River

Summer and Senior Portrait Time!

August begins the school year for many HS Seniors and the list of things to be done from touring colleges, studying for SATs, beginning fall sports and of course Senior Portraits!

This summer I met J upstate at her family's property to do some of her senior portraits

Her dad drove us around the property stopping at some of her favorite spots to take photos. This spot reminded me of the hills in "Sound of Music"

I couldn't convince her to dance and jump like Julie Andrews but we did get some images in the buttercups

and with the hay bales.

We then drove down to a little pond and J's dad let her wear his hat for a few images

On the way out we crossed some railroad tracks so we stopped for a couple of images there.

A few days later J came to the studio for more formal portrait images

and her mom wanted a serious image like I had photographed of her son the year before but J is so happy and smiley

it took a while to get us all to be serious

Caitlin and Gordon's Engagement Photos at Grey Towers

This week I drove to PA to photograph Caitlin and Gordon at Grey Towers.

This National Historic site is one of my favorite spots in PA. We walked up the front entrance to the lawn overlooking the valley

and then we headed to the many gardens in the area

and of course the finger bowl where appetizers are passed around a seated group for sharing

We had the place to ourselves so we sat and imagined what it would be like to have the estate as a private residence

before continuing on to the other gardens

for some more tempting thoughts

Rebecca and Brian's Engagement Session in the Forest

I met Rebecca and Brian on the edge of Orange County, NY to follow them to Brian's hunting camp. Even though I had brought my truck I was glad to ride along with them on the back trails as I would have chickened out in quite a few spots!

At the entrance is an old truck that runs and is still in use.

Brian even learned to drive on this truck. I think the image deserved some vintage toning since the truck was an ol' boy.

Our first stop was by the neversink river where there is a little beach set up

and a grove of trees, maybe magnolia? I'm not a green thumb as most of my deceased house plants can attest too

We then headed higher up to where the original hunting lodge was overlooking the swimming hole.

Their own private Minnewaska.

We made the climb down to the swimming hole

with lots of rocks to dive off of and plenty of reflection pools in the rocks full of tadpoles

On the way back out we passed a field of clover and I couldn't not take a photo of them running through the clover to each other.
Thank you for sharing your hunting lodge with me. It is a wonderful place and I can see why you spend so much time there.

Brotherhood Winery Photos

I met Eileen and Joe at Brotherhood Winery

after closing hours when the sun was just setting leaving a nice glow to the vineyard

We then went into the main area where we could smell amazing scents coming from the Vinum Cafe. The main walkway has so many different areas for photographs it was hard to pick a favorite spot.

I hope you stayed for dinner there. I had a sneak peak at their menu and Jamie and I will definitely be heading there SOON for dinner some night!

Kate & Ron's Block Island Engagement Session

On Sunday after the Block Island Bridal Show I met with Kate and Ron to photograph their engagement session.

They will be getting married in Sept at the Rose Farm Inn so we were scouting locations near the Farm for their portraits.

We drove by the SE Lighthouse and then on to Smilin' Through

and of course a few beaches!

It was nice to meet you both and I am looking forward to your wedding this fall.

Anna & Rick's Wedding at Mulder Chapel, Warwick Center New York

Sunday July 3rd I had the pleasure of photographing another great couple's wedding. Anna and Rick were married at Mulder Chapel

It had been pouring with thunder and lighting since 5am and the weather forecast wasn't good for the rest of the day. But just as amazing as this couple is, the weather turned right as Anna walked down the aisle

and sunshine lit up the chapel as they were saying their vows. Amazing!

After the service they hid away in the bridal suite while the guests went to cocktail hour.

We then headed outside for some formal portraits.

Then it was one of my favorite parts of the day, just the bride and groom and I having fun and creating images together.

Rick and Anna have such great chemistry it made my job so easy. Since they had both worked at the Warwick Center and this is where they met we snuck up to the campground area for an image by the cross that they really wanted to have.

After some bustling trouble and using safety pins to keep the dress up (third bride this year!) it was time for them to be announced

and to share their first dance together as husband and wife

and dances with their parents.

After an amazing meal perfectly prepared and served by Catering House of Edward Fava the sun was starting to set so we took some images in case the clouds moved in before the final sunset.

The setting sun was a perfect shade of pink, the bride's favorite color and matched her flowers by FH Corin Florists perfectly!

It was then time for the Maid of Honor and Best Man Toasts

Then it was time for lots of dancing with music by DJ Tim Reynolds

An AMAZING Sunset!

Sparklers on the back patio while

everyone enjoyed the 360 degree views of the valley with lots of different firework shows to watch

But all too soon it was time for their last dance

Brooklyn, NY Engagement Photo Session

On Saturday we drove into Brooklyn to meet Molly and Phen at their place

they had some great location suggestions so we headed out for a tour of their neighborhood.

Our first stop was their local coffee shop

where we spotted a Vanity Fair with Prince William and Kate on the cover and lots of ideas of things for Molly to add to their wedding!

We then headed back out for a walk towards Molly's brother's studio space

and to the roof top

with some amazing views of the city

Thank you for showing me your neighborhood. We stopped at the bread shop you pointed out on the way home and picked up some delicious bagels. I am looking forward to your wedding in September at the Emerson in Mt Tremper!

While on vacation I hope to finish reading Zach Prez's publication: Photography Web Marketing. I highly recommend it to any business that is on the Web.

I received it this spring and only was able to get to page 10 and was already impressed with the suggestions and still have many more pages to go!

It is filled with great SEO tips as well as navigating Twitter and Facebook which many business people have trouble with.

And just so you don't think I'm all work and no play on vacation I will also be reading, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe.

In between light rain showers I had the pleasure of photographing Isabella and Keith's engagement portraits at a local garden. We started off under the trellis as the last of the rain fell.

The rain really didn't bother us too much and they really had eyes only for each other.

We walked the gardens

and looked for areas that were in full spring bloom

we were a few days too late for the tulips.

The clouds finally gave way and the sun peaked out for a little while

Michelle and Rory's The Fountains of Wallkill Golf Club Wedding

On Saturday of Memorial Day wedding I met Michelle at her parent's house while she was getting ready for her wedding to Rory. After taking images of everyone getting ready we headed out to the front yard

to take images of the beautiful girls

and Michelle with her family before the wedding.

I met them at the church when they arrived in the limo

Michelle looked absolutely stunning coming down the aisle

that the grooms mouth actually dropped open!

and family photos at the church

it was time to head to The Fountains of Wallkill Golf Club for images on their beautiful grounds

It was time for cocktail hour, dinner and lots of dances! Rory and Michelle opened the dance floor to the song "You and I"

Which was perfect for them as they only had eyes for each other

After dinner D.J. Mike Lynn kept the dance floor busy for dancers of all ages

Marion and Bill's Wedding in Cortlandt Manor, NY

On Sunday of Memorial Day weekend I photographed Marion and Bill's wedding near their home in Cortlandt Manor. Marion and Bill had decided to have all their photographs done prior to the wedding so they could relax and head to the reception. Unfortunately the hair and makeup people were almost two hours late and were starting the makeup when the photos were to be taken.

This gave me plenty of time to take some detail images

and some images with the children

At 2:00 when Bill was almost ready to leave for the church Marion's hair and makeup was complete

As you can see by the look on his face, she was worth the wait

We headed outside to take as many images as possible before having to leave for the church

Marion and Bill's ceremony was at the newly built Church of the Holy Spirit. Bill's daughter Gianna looked beautiful as she came down the aisle to start the service

Marion was escorted by her parents

and Bill looked as though he was seeing her for the first time

They had a short and beautiful service

and we wrapped up some of the remaining family images so they could head out to enjoy their reception

Stacey & Joe's NYC Engagement Photos at Central Park

On Thursday I met Stacey and Joe at JoJo's Restaurant where they enjoyed dinner after Joe asked Stacey to marry him.

It was a beautiful spring day so we walked the few blocks from there to Central Park

and had the park to ourselves

We then walked down to another favorite NYC spot of theirs, The Met

Kevin & Emma's New York Wedding at Catlin Gardens

On Sunday May 15 I had the pleasure of photographing my first wedding of the 2011 season for Kevin and Emma at Catlin Gardens

They were married under the newly rebuilt tent with eyes only for each other

Their daughter interrupted their service to give them a pretty flower

and shortly after it was time for their first kiss as husband and wife.

After family portraits in the gardens everyone headed upstairs for cocktail hour

and Kevin, Emma and I walked the gardens to take their portraits

The sun even peaked out for a quick few seconds!

We headed upstairs to join cocktail hour and for them to get ready to be introduced.

There was a slight problem with the bustle

and with the help of lots of friends, family and Catlin waitstaff, she was ready for the introduction

and their first dance together

Cutest Pet Contest

On Saturday May 7 I photographed 16 pets for the First Annual Pet Contest at Middletown Veternariy Hospital.

Each contestant had their own time slot and the portraits were held inside the building.

Outside the building a tent was set up with samples to take

Snacks for the pets and their humans

and two large gift baskets, one for a cat and one for a dog.

The money collected was donated to the Youth 4H club of Middletown to support their programs.

At the end of the day the staff gathered with their pets for a group photo.

On May 27 the contestants gallery will be posted on my facebook page for one month with the winner being chosen on June 27. The winner will be the pet with the most votes (likes) under their image.

Sullivan House Wedding Album

The last of winter album designs brought a blast from the past, Tina and Dave's wedding from 2008 when I was still shooting film. Sometimes it can be scary going back to your work three years later!

I designed a horizontal album for them that opens to full square pages.

So the cover is 16" long by 7" high

But the page spreads open to 16" wide by 14" high in a square format

While I don't recommend waiting three years to create your album it really is better late than never to create an album of your cherished wedding memories.

Hudson Valley Engagement Portraits

On Saturday the weather was spring like in Slate Hill as I headed up to Woodbourne in Sullivan County for an Engagement Session. As I got there though the weather wasn't quite as springlike. It was overcast but you could see the sun in the distance.

Erica and Peter had chosen the spot where Peter proposed as the spot for the engagement pictures. Unfortunatly with the all the rain, on top of the snow that was there it made the road up there a muddy mess.

But Peter and Erica's father were able to bulldoze a road and put their Nissan's four wheel drive to the test!

We could still see the sun out in the distance and had hope that as we walked the last little bit to the top it would be out.

Hope is a funny thing, because all of a sudden we were in a snow squall!

So much for an early spring day! I was pretty excited to see the snow though!

We made it to the spot where Peter proposed,

at what feels like the top of the world

and the sun finally decided to join us!

As we made it over to the other side of the mountain we finally had that early spring day back.

Hudson Valley Winter Engagement Pictures

I met with Michelle and Rory this fall and we talked about a winter engagement session with snow and bright blue sky. Well this year has been FULL of snow but snowstorm, followed by snowstorm and no bright blue sky!

We decided to go ahead with the winter engagement session during a break between snowstorms.
We started in a sheltered area as it was sleeting on and off

and very windy

They brought their beautiful Husky along

and Rory took Michelle for a little spin to help them warm up.

We had a quick moment of sun between the clouds and sleet so we took a photo of her ring with an icicle and the sun glistening through.

Super Bowl Sunday

Well, Super Bowl Sunday may be coming up this Sunday but MY Super Bowl Sunday was in November, when my son's

Div 1 team played at the New Marlboro High School against Goshen's Div 1 Team.

It was a close game with Goshen scoring a touchdown before the half time. Our team kept getting down the field we just couldn't seem to get a touchdown.

Then with 1:36 left in the game we scored a touchdown!

and most importantly, scored the extra point!

giving us a one point advantage!

all that was left to do was gain possession of the ball and watch the clock tick

to VICTORY!!

This album design is for the Flush Mount Album. The images are printed on archival photographic paper and then bound flush to the edges of the album mats. They are then treated with a protective coating to protect the photographic images.

Fall Family Portraits

Hudson Valley Engagement Session this Fall

I met Emma and Kevin with their daughter at a hiking spot for an engagement portrait session. We took a few photos while we were waiting for Emma's parents to arrive

As soon as she saw her grandparents off she ran calling out to her grandmother but as she got closer she decided it was grandpa she wanted to run too!

We left them to happily play on the swings

so we could take photos of Emma and Kevin alone

and since everyone was there I took a photo of them together at the top of the mountain.
